The American Institute in Ukraine is pleased to sponsor a Roundtable discussion for Ukrainian experts and media with Doug Bandow, Senior Fellow of the CATO Institute, Washington’s most prestigious center of Libertarian studies and advocate of a non-interventionist foreign policy.
The event will take place on Tuesday, June 16, at 2 p.m. in the press-center of “Ukrainian News” information agency, Esplanadna str. 20, Kiev.
The topic of the discussion will be: “NATO, U.S. Influence, and Ukraine's Elections”.
Specific questions to be addressed include:
- NATO as an issue for U.S. and Ukraine’s security: lessons of the Balkans
- What role the U.S. should – or shouldn’t – play in Ukraine’s politics: lessons of the Orange Revolution
- What do the NATO issue and U.S. influence mean for Ukraine’s upcoming elections?
Doug Bandow is a senior fellow at the Cato Institute, specializing in foreign policy and civil liberties. He worked as special assistant to President Reagan and editor of the political magazine Inquiry. He writes regularly for leading publications such as Fortune magazine and speaks frequently at academic conferences, on college campuses, and to business groups. Bandow has been a regular commentator on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox News Channel, and MSNBC. He holds a J.D. from Stanford University.
