“U.S. Policy Priorities toward Ukraine”
The American Institute in Ukraine (AIU) is pleased to sponsor a press briefing for Ukrainian experts and media with Vlad Sobell, Senior Economist, Daiwa Institute of Research, London.
The event will take place on Wednesday, July 22, at 11:30 in the press-center, Khreshchatik str. 25, Kiev.
The topic of the briefing will be: “U.S. Policy Priorities toward Ukraine.” Specific questions to be addressed include:
- What are the priorities of the Obama Administration toward Ukraine following President Obama’s visit to Moscow and Vice President Biden’s meetings in Kiev?
- How can the United States best assist Ukraine in helping stimulate economic growth?
Vlad Sobell is a Senior Economist covering eastern Europe for the Daiwa Institute of Research, part of Daiwa Securities. Born in Prague, Sobell emigrated to the UK in 1969. After gaining a PhD on Comecon at St Antony's College, Oxford, he worked as an analyst at Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe Research in Munich. On return to the UK in 1990 Sobell worked as Senior Editor at the Economist Intelligence Unit in London, covering Central Europe and Russia. Since 1996 has worked as Senior Economist at Daiwa Institute of Research, London.
The press briefing is part of AIU’s informational and educational program to bring to the people of Ukraine a sense of the diversity of opinion that exists among Americans regarding NATO and other relevant issues. AIU believes such diversity allows for a better informed debate among Ukraine’s people about the future of their country. AIU is a privately funded U.S. nonprofit organization and neither receives, solicits, nor accepts funds from any government.
